Oakgrove School achieves Outstanding A Level Results
50% of Passes at Top A* - B Grades
Over half of all grades achieved were at A* - B in yet another outstanding set of results for Oakgrove school. Almost all students achieved A Level passes and the majority of students have also secured places at their university of choice. As Oakgrove Sixth Form only opened in September 2009, this is another fantastic set of results for the school.
Early indications are that university applications have been extremely successful with students studying a variety of degree courses at leading universities including Accounting and Finance, Biomedical Science, Criminology, Creative Writing and English, Law, Marketing and Politics. Top achievers included Matthew Scott who gained an A* in Maths and A grades in both Further Maths and Physics. He will be going on to read Civil and Structural Engineering at Sheffield University. Amelia Breading also achieved exceptional results with an A* in Media Studies and A grades in English Literature, Geography and Psychology; she will be going on to study Speech and Language Therapy at City University in London.
Other students secured places at University College London, to study Economics; two students to Liverpool University to study Neuroscience and Politics respectively, as well as Mathematics at Sussex. Students also achieved the grades to read Law at Leicester, Criminology and Psychology at Southampton, along with Philosophy at Sheffield University.
Peter Barnes, Headteacher, said he was delighted with the results which reflected, once again, ‘Oakgrove’s commitment to the highest of academic standards in demanding and rigorous subject disciplines.’
